I think it is best to set both pumps at 58.
Here is my math:
I turned everything off except 1 pump (set to 70), and then watched as the Seperator water level rose.
It rose at about 0.17 per 15 seconds.

Next I turned off everything except the water seperator.
the water level decreased at 0.28 per 15 seconds.

therefore it would be optimal for both water pumps to produce (0.28/2 = 0.14) per 15 seconds.

14/17 = 82.25%

82.25% * 70 = 58   (70 is the original setting 58 is optimized.)

Notes:
1. it's good to let the water level get to 5 or 6 first, so that if a pump fails you have a reserve.
2. the reason for doing this is because when the water hits 10, the pumps shut off. if the pumps shut off they do no turn back on, and will eventually cascade into a system wide power down.

Thats a handy guide, I have tried balancing the water pump vs sep and got it, but not in a numerical form.. good tip..

I keep my pumps each at 70. During the daytime when I have my PV running and hooked to life support I run the sabatier while I have that little extra power flowing in, but don't send any water to the drinking tanks. The water level slowly climbs. At night I shut down the Sab unit and set the water flow to my drink tank to .1, the water levels slowly decrease. This lets me keep my water levels and power levels constantly in the green with minimal interaction.

Hey Hyper - an idea for a hypothetical phase 8: allow us to gather materials/recipes that allow for the construction of boards/gadgets we can upgrade the base machinery with. Auto water/fertilizer timer for the hydroponics that adds water or fertilizer at key low levels; auto pump timer that increases or decreases the amount of water going to the Sab unit or the water tank.

phase 9: dome the courtyards, pressurize them, allow for tests on enclosed martian soil. Find the correct chemical composition by adding minerals/bio waste/chemical waste/fertilizer/worms and allow for a transfer of soil to/from our hydrophonics area and slowly naturalize the courtyards.

phase 10: plant trees/leafy shrubbery in the courtyards. this would allow us a natural way to filter that CO2 without the degrading scrubber making us self sufficient! Dah dah! We're true martians!

I am pretty sure hyper is trying to finalize this version for release, maybe if it is somewhat successful he will make another mars sim expanding on these things.

There comes a point in time where I have to say enough is enough for features. This was a one year project that has been 3+ years in the making, mostly due to alot of health issues. I wanted the game to be so much more but the time involved in making that a reality for this version has long gone.
The game engine I am using (Torque 3d 1.01) has alot of issues. Garage games released it as a product but I think it is still in alpha/beta stage. I would like to redo the game using the newest version or even switch to unreal or Unity for the next go.
There is enough here to generate interest I hope and depending on the response I can and probably will make a second version that could go beyond Mars to other planets. This was a part of my origional plan but as I said, it's time to get this version out the door and see what happens. With the help of you loyal users to spread the word, if I get any kind of positive response we can start fleshing ideas out for the second round.

Thanks to all for your interest and thanks for spending time on this project with me.

I still remember first finding VROS and thinking "This is awesome!" and then finding the MCC demo and thinking "This is even better than awesome!!!!"

Your work has given me the chance to do somthing I never dreamed I could do. When I jump in this sim I can touch and feel another planet as if I were actually there! What you have done is nothing short of miraculous, and I know in my heart that programs such as this are eternal. No matter what future engines come into play, it's the classics that survive.

Release this on Steam or Desura and put the money towards whatever makes you happy! (if that happens to be making another simulator on Unity so be it ;)

All the best!
