Bugs
« on: December 02, 2013, 02:19:27 PM »
I got this info off my blog, please verify the issues.

Hello, reporting a few bugs here in the newest version, as I couldn't find your email on the game's website (yet alone some simple, convenient contact form). Pardon me for not being able to provide too much details for some of them: - Randomly, items from the inventory may disappear, or at least lose the graphics, it was especially happening to the game's host, far less so (once in the whole gameplay) to me, who joined his game - However, I, upon each phase completion had to leave the game and rejoin as things like canisters, installation's components etc didn't show up for me when the new phase began (though they were still blocking my way) and couldn't be picked up. - Rover's repair button can be clicked repeatedly, allowing easy grind of engineering as you'll have several repair completion progress bars running and each one of them will add to your skill. - I couldn't process only-slightly-grown mushrooms at bio processor, despite what it had written in it's description (to bring mushrooms there for preprocessing). However, I could bring them straight for raw meal preparation. In addition, a few things would use some fine tuning: - Lights in interior of the base are far too much dependant on lighting inside. It's fine in case of farms, but many other rooms, despite having no direct access to sunlight are brightly lit during the day or completely dark at night (if not lights are on). Also, rover's lights can sometimes penetrate walls somewhat. - Items, as in inventory stuff cannot be shared between players, many of the items also cannot be dropped. In one game we nearly starved as we got a designated cook who prepared quite some meals with the last of our then-available ingredients and then it turned out that neither he can give them away nor we can see 'raw food' when it was put into microwave for others to heat it up. - Mcomm radiation source secondary objective - it's nice we got an info that there's stuff to do but some suggestions regarding location would be greatly appreciated. Even patroling between meteo and comm stations around the hills take a couple of fuel refuels for the rover - in comparison, detailed area search for some largely unidentified object that is radioactive is far harder, making attempts at it waste of fuel and time for little gain. Hopefully there'll be patch available, as to have the game fully working without much of a problem.

It has been a while since I have played, but I don't think there have been any updates since I last played. I am working mainly from memory, as I am only in Phase 3 on my second playthrough.

Mushrooms:
I think there is a description somewhere (the mushrooms, or one of the processors) stating the mushrooms needed to be processed before they could be used. I assumed the description was wrong since mushrooms (and worms) can be put into the fridge.

Interior lights:
The walls don't block light. The interior is lit up by daylight when internal lights are off.
The external lights do illuminate parts of the interior at night if the internal lights are off. E.g., the external right on the other side of the wall from where the air scrubber/O2 tank/battery bank is at.
A quick test (luckily morning Phase 3 on my game) shows rover lights do shine through walls, illuminate the interior, and apparently can illuminate exterior portions of the base on the other side of the wall the rover is facing. (was not expecting that)

Rovers:
They don't seem well suited for 'long range' trips, but I never had issues with running low on fuel. But then again 'patrolling' sounds like a waste of fuel. I only used rovers for transportation, to do missions, prospecting, mining, etc.

Missions
I don't recall ever having trouble finding things. But then again, doesn't the PDA normally list location data for stuff like objects placed by secondary missions? Been a while since I played MC:C long enough for a mission to pop up, so I cannot recall if the PDA does show such info or not.

Missing items
No items vanished that I noticed (aside from the one relating to picking up a carried item when already having a carried item), but in one session I used a few items for crafting, when when I loaded the game the next session, one of those items was back in inventory. This was one or two versions ago, but I don't recall it happening again afterward.

Repair button:
I had the repair button on the rover glitch up 'once' during a repair, but repeatedly clicking on it did not boost skills, and game had to be terminated as I was stuck in the rover repair screen at the time. This was a few versions ago and might have been fixed as I never encountered it after that one instance.

Multiplayer issues.
Cannot help there, I have only played single player.

A pair of minor bugs I strayed across.
Early Phase 3, had to use the ELS to eat. Base was 'almost' pressurized at 13 PSI. When door to ELS closed, interior pressure 'dropped' to 9 something according to the suit info. The ELS control panel however showed 13.1, and the room quickly pressurized in under a second, so the suit reading of 9 was definitely wrong.

Second one, went to pick up a comm relay (I had first moved them into the entry room, next to the EVA locker), and it showed as held, but the one I was looking at was still there, I had assumed it instead grabbed the 'closer' one out of view to my character's right. When I went into the airlock to 'place' it, nothing happened, but the icon vanished, and nothing was placed. Checking back in the main room all three were still there, where I had first moved them to.

Edited: Found a second bug, tweaked one other thing.

Boldly going forward, 'cause I can't find reverse.

Doctor Watson; Proving that being wrong means being one step closer to being right.

H- Randomly, items from the inventory may disappear, or at least lose the graphics, it was especially happening to the game's host, far less so (once in the whole gameplay) to me, who joined his game - However, I, upon each phase completion had to leave the game and rejoin as things like canisters, installation's components etc didn't show up for me when the new phase began (though they were still blocking my way) and couldn't be picked up.

I can confirm this, happened with me at multiplayer game, i was not the host.
In every phase and more than once each phase.
Never in single player game by now.

Description
Food and water disappear from your inventory when you try to eat/drink. Food and brink meters do not raise up.
To address this issue i had to exit the game to desktop, log out the host game and relog did not worked.

Another bug:
Happened in single player. Did not encounter the same series of events in multiplayer to test it.
A bronken RHU leaking radiation disappear from the first slot of the rover once you try to remove it.
You can see the item on the rover, but the slot is empty.
What i tried:
Put and removed others 4 items inside the rover without a problem.
Advanced to the next phase and the item was floating on the spot the rover was.
Tried to replicate the bug in the next phase and it happened again.
I drove the rover around with the bugged RHU inside and the radiation level in my character raise in a anormal rate. ( i can't realy confirm this as fact because i can not control the planet radiation).

Cheers

Only problem I've had this far is mushrooms and worms not procreating. Sometimes it takes a while before inventory items are shown/processed and bars actually update, but the delay is managable and actually improves the immersion of the game and acts like the limited technology would I think.

Mushrooms and Worms are based on density. If the density is up to 50% and you harvest all of it, nothing will grow. Always leave some in there. We usually dont take any below 30% to 40% and when we harvest we only take 5% to 10% . If you do that then the density will go up. Remember they need a little water and some nutrition.

Yeah, for a brief moment the repair interface was showing up before the radiation warning so i thought i could access it if i was fast enough. but it just made the RHU disappear.

It still could take a space in inventory...  ;)

Hyper, have you considered creating of self diagnostic module for MCC?.. :)
I guess there are many lazy people who rather unistall the game instead writing here... :)

There is a diagnostic log file in the root directory called console.log
