Lacuna Passage: A story driven exploration and survival game set on Mars.
(1/1)
rditto48801:
I came across a game called Lacuna Passage yesterday on Steam Greenlight, and it is also now on Kickstarter, and also listed on Indie DB.
Due to the game being set on Mars, and the realism they are aiming for, I figured it would be worth mentioning here.
Here is the description from one of the sites it is shown on.
--- Quote ---Lacuna Passage is a story-driven exploration and survival game set on Mars, drawing inspiration from titles like Dear Esther, 2001: A Space Odyssey, and even Pokemon Snap. You play as Jessica Rainer, the only survivor of the crashed Heracles mission, investigating the disappearance of the first ever manned mission to Mars. You have several tools at your disposal, but most important are your skills of observation. You will need to uncover mission logs, recorded audio files, and other physical clues left behind at critical mission locations in order to uncover the story. An interplanetary trail of breadcrumbs is waiting for you.
There are 25 square miles of open terrain around the crash site for you to explore, and in order to find the missing crew of the Hermes you won't want to explore blindly. You must carefully manage your vital resources or you will find yourself stranded in the great red wasteland with no food, water, or oxygen. Will you simply survive and wait for rescue, or will you risk your own life to find the truth? Time and nature are your enemies in Lacuna Passage.
--- End quote ---
The details I have seen for it and the few videos they have so far makes it look like it has a good bit of potential.
They aim to stick a lot of realism in there by the looks of it, and the survival aspect takes things up a notch. As in there is not a simple thing of needing oxygen, food, and water, it looks like there will be a need to keep track of assorted vital signs and overall health, things like blood pressure, oxygen saturation, blood glucose and caloric intake.
Here are a few links, for those wanting to take a look at it and to get more info about it, including the group making it, Random Seed Games.

Looks interesting. Would prefer you not advertise other products on this site.

Oh, okay. I felt it might be of interest here since it relates to Mars and such.
There are some other space based games I know of (one involving space stations) I have not mentioned since there is no 'general topic' forum here.
I can trim up my first post a little if you want. (perhaps only have the Steam Greenlight link listed?)
I will say this, I have done the same basic thing for MC:C, on the forum for another 'indie space game'. (over 60 views so far)
(said other space game relates to the Duna reference under my post count)

It will be fine to leave it. I have had people in the past get on and link all kinds of things even porn sites. I try to keep it on topic.
There are a few interesting sites and games out there dealing with space themes and I dont mind those so much so just keep it on topic.. Thanks...

So topics involving other space based games would be alright?
I know of a few rocketry/space flight/planet (or moon) colonization type games that stick to realism to one extent or another.
Or do you mean mainly Mars related stuff as far as being 'on topic'?
Would it be alright if I posted a few examples of 'space themed' games I know of? They generally stick to 'realism', physics and science based stuff.
