Radiation Storms
« on: November 24, 2009, 11:43:25 AM »
Radiation for storms could work along these lines. IF you are outside when a 2,000 millirad storm hits, you die. Otherwise though it shouldn't affect you really. Again though

21.65 millirad is the average amount of radiation exposure on mars.
With some events reaching 2,000 millirads.

Here is a chart of the effects of radiation, keep in mind that
1 Gy = 100 rad

Don't Mind the red line.

Nice! (well actually not nice).

What kind of warning (if any) would you expect do these storms hit with this intensity instantly or build up over time, is this the same or/and includes solar flares??

lol Maybe I should read up on the links u posted probally info is in there.

I think I read somewhere that the dust storms actually lowered the surface radiation since the iron dust blocked it. I have a radiation code in there but hasn't been implemented yet. I will be redoing the weather system when I get time so that would be the time to add in the atmospheric radiaiton routines.

I figure the more we provide you with the actual numbers, the less work you have to do later, you can just pick and chose from our research.

be nice if we had a solar flare what increase Rads. we would have a warning of a set period of time so we all knew it was coming and had to be in a shelter...

Underneath the Habs could be a radiation shelter.
